Welcome to Akrotiri Rugby Union Football Club.

Rugby Clubs throughout the services have a record of being the most popular sports and social clubs on any unit. Akrotiri Rugby Club is no exception. Discos, Live Bands, Theme nights and BBQ's, we've got the lot, Oh and we play pretty good rugby too!

The club runs four teams, the Flamingos, 1stXV, the Griffins, 2ndXV, the Pterodactyls, over 35s and the Swallows for the ladies. A new addition to the club is Childrens Rugby on every Friday at the Club. The season runs roughly from October through to March and includes league fixtures and a cup competition against other teams from both the WSBA and ESBA. The coming season will hopefully include a new civilian team, the Pafos Tigers. The standard of rugby is very good and there is a healthy mix from across the services. This makes for a good atmosphere for the Inter Service match in March which is always a hard fought game. The club is always looking for players both male and female and is keen to take on new arrivals. Training for men and ladies is run on the club pitch by trained coaching staff and takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1500 - 1700hrs in the winter. Contact the Club Coach, Andy Taff Miles, for more information about playing.

Located on Golden Jubilee Way, just past the large NAAFI shop, the club boasts a thriving social diary and the newly refurbished bar is available for private parties. All major matches are shown in the club, with the bar open half an hour before kick off. Watch the Rugby Club notice board for details.

The 22nd Akrotiri International Floodlight Tens 2006 was the biggest and the best 10's so far, and the huge amount of work to produce the event should not go unnoticed. A BIG Thank You from the OIC for all of the effort put in by many individuals, too many to mention here, but they know who they are! The next tournament is planned for 28 May-01 Jun 2007. Details and application form is on the site.

Everybody is welcome at Akrotiri Rugby Club. Players, spectators, visitors, even referees! Come down and see our new bar. Why not have a section function or Barbecue and use the club disco. We can cater for most things and have even been known to support Freddie Mercury, Madonna and recently Gareth Gates! If you would like any more information about the rugby club and its facilities, contact the Chairman Sgt Ken Rees.

Hope to see you soon.
